It's 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2.
Here's the latest news on the Cemetery Club front. Well, there's no news really. No ghost hunts. I went out last Saturday early and came back with maybe one photo. Nothing else. I'm still waiting on my Cemetery Club t-shirt. It should arrive tomorrow. I will be the envy of all the club!
If anyone is interested in "ghosting" any time soon, e-mail me at email@example.com or call me. I'm hoping to set up a time to investigate Lori and Joe's house...but I need to talk to them first.
In other news, I just sent the info out on a class I'm pitching to the Rock Island Parks and Recreation people. I've previously taught memoir-writing and Feng Shui classes through them (though not at the same time!). Below is the class description I sent them tonight:
Class name: Cemetery Art
Description: Do cemeteries make you want to hold your
breath as you drive by, or are you drawn to their
"morbid" beauty? In "Cemetery Art," we will discuss
cemeteries as as works of art and sculptural parks.
This introductory class will cover the symbolic
imagery of gravestone carvings and how to tell when
and for what type of person the stone was carved. We
promise you'll never look at a cemetery the same way
Days preferred: Saturday, Oct. 4
Times preferred: 1-3 p.m.
For ages: 11 - 111 (children must be accompanied by
I don't know how much the course will cost. They set that up. But I think it will be fun and hope people will sign up for it. Spread the word!
I also pitched a workshop idea to the Rock Island Library.
Class name: I Ain't Afraid of No Ghost!
Description: Have you ever wanted to learn about
things that go bump in the night but were afraid to
ask? Now's your chance! "I Ain't Afraid of No Ghost!"
is an introductory workshop to ghosts and local
hauntings, taught by the founding member of the
Cemetery Club (a local ghost hunting club that was
recently started in the Quad Cities). If you want to
take a light-hearted and informative look at the
paranormal, check out this class!
So these are my ideas. If anyone wants to participate in the ghost class as a guest speaker about their experiences, let me know!
Happy haunting and happy 4th of July!
